Emily Batty (Trek World Racing) repeated as the women's Under 23 champion at the Canadian National Championships. Emily has dominated this category in her home nation since turning 18, and it was no different this time. The race was held at Canmore, Alberta, which has been the site of the 1988 Olympic Games Nordic events, as well as UCI XC World Cups back in the 90's. The race was held in perfect conditions, over 4 laps of the 7km circuit.

The U23 women started their race 45 seconds back from the Elite women, and even with an initial headstart, Emily caught all but 1st and 2nd place in the Elite field. In the U23 race, Emily finished over a minute ahead of the second place finisher, and over 11 minutes ahead of third place.
